SIMULATORS

Bangladesh Navy is in constant process to incorporate all modern technologies to impart real time training to her personnel. School of Maritime Warfare and Tactics is the hub of practical training which provides the training facilities on following capacities:

  • Action Speed Tactical Trainer (ASTT)
  • Marine Bridge Simulator
  • Sonar Simulator
  • Electronic Warfare Evaluation Center and EW Simulator.
  • Gunnery Simulator and

Action Speed Tactical Trainer

ASTT is a computer aided war-gaming simulator. The simulator provides tools and environment for planning typical naval operations. The trainersdevelop scenario and the students/ trainees prepare Operations Order and other documents. The developedgames are played as per the force planningin real time scenario and realistic environment. The system can also be used for recording and replaying the tactical move for further analysis. Thereby, Student’s ability in planning operations and real time decision making can be exercised, using this system.

The operational and tactical level of training in ASTT includes:

a. All forms of naval warfare including anti-submarine, anti-surface, anti-air and mine warfare.

b. Coastal Defence. SAM, Gun, Artillery, Shore Battery, Air Base.

c. Tactical Analysis.

d. Offshore Installation Defence.

e. Joint Operation.

f. Fleet Operation.

g. Ops Room / CIC procedure.

h. Multi National Exercise.

j. Strategic Planning and Analysis.

Marine Bridge Simulator

The Marine Bridge Simulator provides a platform for training of BN officers and sailors, on ship handling operations, in a safe and controlled environment avoiding huge cost of operating ships at sea. The trainees can master the ship borne procedure, and improve the ship handling skill by using this simulator. They also get opportunity to practice maneuvering of ship in a simulated complex situation.

The Simulator is designed to impart training on the following fields:

a. Open Ocean Navigation (in various complex situation like Rough sea, Fog and Night)

b. Passage Through Narrow Channel

c. Handling of Ship in Rough Weather

d. Approaching to Harbour, Ship or Buoy (8 Different Ports of the world) for navigation practice.

e. Berthing/ unberthing of a Ship

f. Replenishment at Sea

g. Towing at sea

h. Emergency Drill Procedures and so on.

SONAR Simulator

It is a computer based training system on underwater sensor mainly SONAR. Gentleman, The acronym SONAR stands for Sound Navigation and Ranging. The simulator is specially designed as per BN requirement. It simulates sonar signature for detection, classification and recognition at various environmental conditions at sea. It also provides training to the officers and sailors of Bangladesh Navy on management of SONAR, torpedo firing and mine hunting facilities.

Electronic Warfare Evaluation Centre, and Electronic Warfare Simulator

Its main function is to conduct and co-ordinate all activities that are required to improve the electronic warfare capabilities of Bangladesh Navy ships. We also provide simulator based EW training to BN personnel as well as personnel from other services.

Gunnery Fire Control Simulator

It is the latest addition in SMWT. This is an Italian based modern combat system with the complete fire control system capable to train in a standard frigate model. This simulator has four cubicles. Each cubicle can resemble the complete fire control system of a ship. In this system all weapons like missiles, gun, torpedo etc can be fired along with all associated sensor operation. The system can also track and control aircrafts.
