COMMODORE M HASAN TARIQUE MONDAL, (G), NPP, ndc, psc, BN

Commodore M Hasan Tarique Mondal graduated from Bangladesh Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science and Commissioned in Executive Branch in 1993. He completed his specialization in Gunnery from the Gunnery School, BNS ISSA KHAN and INS DRONACHARYA, India. He also successfully completed the Missile Command and Tactics Course at FAC School, BNS ISSA KHAN and the Technology of Ships Course from Dalian Naval Academy, China. He further attended the Maritime Warfare and Tactics Course under the School of Maritime Warfare and Tactics (SMWT) and the International Defence Management Course at Bangladesh Institute of Peace Support Operation Training (BIPSOT). He is a graduate of the Defence Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur, Dhaka and the National Defence College, New Delhi, India.

He commanded various types of naval platforms, including missile boats, patrol crafts, offshore patrol vessels and a frigate. He also served as a Seamanship Instructor at Bangladesh Naval Academy. Besides, he served as Commanding Officer at BNS MONGLA.

His staff appointments include various important positions at Bangladesh Navy Headquarters. He served in the Captain Staff Submarine directorate, Chief Staff Officer Admin Dhaka and COMFLOT West, Operations Directorate as Staff Officer (Operations), Deputy Director of Naval Operations, Director of Naval Training and Director of Naval Operations.

Commodore Tarique had the unique opportunity to serve the cause of world peace as Deputy Chief of the Naval Operations Centre of the multinational Maritime Task Force (MTF) under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). As the first Bangladesh Armed Forces peacekeeper to serve in UNIFIL, he played an active role in laying the groundwork for the deployment of two Bangladesh Navy ships under the Maritime Task Force in UNIFIL. In recent years, he also served as the Defence Adviser in Malaysia.

For his significant achievements and bravery during peacetime operations, he was awarded the Navy Efficiency Medal (NPP) by Bangladesh Navy.

Commodore Tarique is a widely travelled person and has visited China, France, Russia, Turkiye, Malaysia, Italy, Indonesia, India, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Brunei, Philippine, Kyrgyzstan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Lebanon and Thailand.

Commodore Tarique is married to Farhana Tarafder and is blessed with two daughters. He is fond of travelling and enjoys sports and music.

Currently, Commodore M Hasan Tarique Mondal is serving as the Commander Flotilla West.
